About

Rosé Electrolysis is an electrolysis practice in Durham, CT, focused on permanent hair removal. The practice is open Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and treatments and consultations are by appointment only. Phone is 860-635-8255.

Electrolysis works by inserting a fine probe alongside each hair into the follicle opening and applying a small electrical current to destroy the cells that produce growth. The practice offers three modalities, shortwave (thermolysis), galvanic and blend, and adjusts each session to the client's skin and hair. Most clients need several sessions because hair grows in cycles. The practice notes that electrolysis was the first method used to remove hair permanently, in 1875.

The practice works with a broad client base, including sensitive areas such as the breasts, darker skin tones, curly, wavy and coarse hair, hair growth tied to hormone imbalance or PCOS, and men, with treatment offered for the back, ears, eyebrows, cheeks, neckline and nape. It also offers electrolysis for gender-affirmation hair removal and says it has experience serving the transgender community, respecting clients' names, pronouns, privacy and confidentiality. The practice describes electrolysis as the only method the FDA recognizes as permanent hair removal and says it works across skin tones and hair types.

A visit starts with a complimentary consultation, and clients can have a sample treatment and educational materials before deciding. The first appointment includes a consultation, and the initial session may be shorter. Topical anesthetics can be recommended to ease discomfort. Temporary redness, swelling and minor irritation can occur and usually settle within a few hours to a day. Clients should avoid tweezing, waxing or depilatory creams for at least two weeks before an appointment, though shaving is fine, and should keep out of sun, tanning beds and heavy sweating for 24 to 48 hours afterward.

Pricing starts at $45 for a 15-minute minimum charge, with a 30-minute session at $65, a 45-minute session at $85 and a 60-minute session at $105, and longer sessions follow the same schedule. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice, late arrivals are charged from the originally scheduled time without extending the appointment, and payment is due at the time of treatment by cash, check, credit card or Apple Pay. Clients under 16 need a parent or legal guardian present. The practice can provide physician referrals, will work with a client's medical practitioner, and asks clients planning genital hair removal before surgery to allow enough time beforehand.

Uses electrolysis with a combination of shortwave, galvanic and blend modalities, tailored to each client's skin and hair, and follows the infection prevention standards of the American Electrology Association.
