Rooted Loc Lounge

Rooted Loc Lounge is a loc-focused salon on the second floor of Indie Salon Suites in Denver. The salon describes its setting as laid-back and urban-retro, and it keeps its services centered on locs, so visits stay focused on loc care rather than general hair services. Clients reach the salon through the parking garage, an underpass or the main entrance on Cook Street.

A loc appointment averages about two hours, though timing depends on loc size, the service and the style. Pricing is inclusive. Each visit includes steam treatments, a hot oil treatment, an electric massage for the scalp, neck and shoulders, heated towels and a personalized hair care plan. The shampoo follows a three-step shampoo and mpoo routine with steaming, and red light therapy can be added during deep conditioning or hot oil treatment.

Booking runs on a monthly cycle, with appointments opening for the following month and a partial payment due at booking. Full payment and tips can also be handled at that stage. New clients start with an in-person consultation, and services are not done on the same day as that consultation. Appointments run on a strict schedule: arrivals within ten minutes after the start time carry a late fee, and arrivals more than ten minutes late are canceled. Extra charges apply for locs over 95 in number, appointments that run past the booked time and crown work with more than 55 locs.

The salon also offers a Rooted membership for an annual fee, which includes a free birthday style in the birthday month, bottles of bodifying mist or oil and a late arrival allowance. Referral credit and a birthday discount for non-members are also available, and gift packages are given after a client's first appointment. Beverages and snacks, including water and tea, are free at the entry table. Tips can be added by QR code at the dryer side table or at checkout through Square.

Each appointment is built around a personalized hair care plan and a multi-step wash and treatment routine, with the work limited to loc maintenance and retwists.
