Root & Form Hair Studio

Root & Form began as a holistic hair salon. In 2019 it expanded to include a shop selling vintage, handmade, artisan and thrift clothing, accessories, art and decor. The studio describes itself as a local, woman-owned small business with an eco-friendly approach, and says it focuses on clean ingredients and puts client wellness first.

Haircut options include The Fade for short hair above the ears, done with clippers and/or scissors and including a wash and style, and The Trim for changes of 2 inches or less. The Transformation adds extra consultation time for a new look, and The Extra is for extra-long, thick and/or extra curly hair. Color services range from root touch-ups and all-over color with a custom gloss to face frame, half head and global dimensional lightening, with glosses available as an add-on. Styling and treatments include a custom blowout, a conditioning treatment with scalp massage, a densifying scalp treatment for hair loss, and the Straighten Smoothing Treatment.

The Ayurvedic offerings include a herbal scalp treatment with warm herbal oil, a Kansa wand scalp massage and a shampoo and style, plus an herbal facial using plant-based skincare with an Ayurvedic face and head massage. Shirodhara, where warm herbal oil is poured over the forehead and crown, is also available.

Services are booked a la carte, so each service you want needs to be added to the booking request through the online system. A blow dry comes with a haircut but not with other services, and a wash and style can be added. Prices may change based on specific needs. The team is small and has no dedicated receptionist, so questions go through messages on the booking site. Gift certificates can be bought online. Children should only come along with their own scheduled appointment.
