Root Alchemist

Root Alchemist is a trichology practice in Delafield led by its owner, Cali. Its work centers on hair and scalp concerns, and every treatment follows an analysis or consultation. The practice is inside Sola Salon Studios at 3001 Village Square Drive, and clients who are unsure where to go can wait inside the front doors to be met.

A visit begins with an in-depth conversation about history, lifestyle, concerns and goals, followed by a close look at the roots under two microscopes. Intake asks about medications, supplements and medical history, since these can affect hair and nutrient levels. A plan is then built around what fits the client's current routine, and recommendations may include topicals, supplements and lifestyle changes. Rechecks, booked on average every three months once a plan is underway, compare new images and adjust the plan.

Testing options include the Hair Follicle Test ($350), a non-invasive test using four fresh hairs that reflects roughly the past three months, with results mailed ahead of the analysis appointment. The ALO DNA Test ($600) is a one-time cheek-swab genetic test that looks at markers tied to hormones, inflammation, nutrient needs, blood flow and growth factors, with results in about four weeks. The practice works alongside dermatologists and does not perform biopsies, blood or hormonal tests, or prescribe medications.

New clients are currently accepted only for hair loss, breakage or scalp concerns, and returning clients book through a separate link. The practice does not take insurance and accepts cash, Venmo and major credit cards. Booking and records are handled through a system described as HIPAA compliant, and only the practitioner sees forms and photos. Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice; late cancellations that are not rebooked carry a $25 fee, and a no-show carries a $50 fee before future booking. Sales of services and products are final, though damaged or defective products can be reported within 7 days of receipt. Color or cut issues are corrected at no charge if reported within 7 days, but changes made after trying a new look are not covered. Guests who are not receiving a service may not attend appointments.

Each plan starts with an analysis and is shaped around the client's current lifestyle, with holistic solutions offered alongside the work of dermatologists. Clients in cancer treatment can begin regrowth work after clearance from their oncologist, and clients can keep color services with their own stylist unless color or lightener is part of the problem.
