Roland's Wig Salon

The salon began as a small shop in Matthews and has served the Charlotte area since 1957. The salon says it has more than 65 years of experience in the wig industry. Its owner, Lygia, previously ran a family full-service salon in the Park Rd Shopping Center, and after that location closed in 2012 the wig business was relocated.

Visits are by appointment only, and the salon is open on weekdays, Monday through Friday. Consultations are private, one on one, and no-obligation, in a quiet setting with ample parking. Up to two people may attend a consultation with the client, and calling is the preferred way to get in touch at 704-502-8749.

Wigs and hairpieces can be bought at the time of the appointment. For additional styles and colors, the salon usually needs 7 to 10 days. The salon does not style wigs bought elsewhere. Clients with medical hair loss are advised to check with their insurance company first; the salon notes the required items on the invoice for reimbursement but does not file claims.

The salon serves clients of all ages and backgrounds, including women and teens dealing with medical hair loss or thinning hair. Clients come from Charlotte, Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville, Stallings, Indian Trail, South Charlotte and surrounding states. Clients who color their hair and want a partial piece are asked to have their color done recently.

The salon says it does not upsell and recommends what suits each client, with one-on-one appointments.
