Haircuts are the core of the business. Boys and girls each have a standard cut in the 0-6, 7-12 and 13-and-up groups. Boys can choose a scissor cut or a clipper cut, and girls can choose a short cut, a layered cut or a straight bob. Specialty cuts such as angled bobs and stacked bobs are offered, and cuts that take more time are priced separately. Mohawks and mullets are extra and fall outside the standard haircut price. For girls, a bang trim is included after each haircut for Rock Hair clients.

The salon also has a first haircut package for a child's first trim. It includes the haircut, a certificate and a keepsake gift, and the family can keep a lock of the child's hair.

Beyond cutting, the salon handles braiding, including regular, thin, French and creative styles, and braids start at $24 with the final price depending on the work. Shampoo and blow dry, detangling and head lice checks are also available. Detangling is charged in 15-minute increments. Curls done with a hot tool are offered for $50, and up-dos and curling do's are available with a consultation and a required deposit at booking. Perms are not offered.

Policies are written with families in mind. A child will not be pushed into a haircut if they are not ready, children who appear sick have their appointment rescheduled, and appointments more than 10 minutes late must be moved. Pricing can shift with hair type, length, amount and tangling or matting. If head lice are found, a lice fee applies, the child must be treated before service, and the fee is credited toward the next haircut.

The space is decorated for children, with murals, novelty chairs shaped like airplanes and cars, costume jewelry and toys. Spanish is spoken at the salon. The salon is also hiring full-time and part-time hair stylists, and it works with cosmetology students.

The salon takes a patient, child-first approach, letting a child take their time before a cut and rescheduling when a child is unwell.
