Refine Hair Studio opened in Covina in September 2013, founded by Hector Lopez and Marlene Ortiz. Hector has more than 25 years of salon experience, and Marlene has 10 years of salon and on-set work behind her.
The founders wanted the studio to feel comparable to salons in West Hollywood and New York, and to build a team culture around professionalism, creativity, innovation and collaboration. The salon describes its setting as intimate and sophisticated.
Stylists work from the creative side of each appointment and focus on helping clients express themselves through their hair. All stylists are trained in advanced cutting and color techniques, and they specialize in classic, current and ahead-of-trend looks. Each service is shaped around the needs of the individual client, and complimentary consultations are offered for all services by appointment.
Color is a major part of the menu, from a simple gloss to full lightening services. Styling covers everyday cuts and blow dries as well as event hairstyling. Long hairdressing and out-of-salon work, including bridal hair, is arranged by contacting the front desk.
Booking is handled by appointment only, and same-day visits cannot be guaranteed. Appointment requests should be sent at least 24 hours ahead, and the salon confirms by contact after a request is submitted. A credit card is required to secure every booking. The salon is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The salon works around each client's needs and style goals, and its stylists are trained in advanced cutting and color.
