Really Cool Hair

Really Cool Hair is run by Clover Ahlander in Northeast Portland. It is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5:30 PM, and it is closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

New clients start with a free 15-minute consultation, which is required before new client color. A new client haircut runs 90 minutes and includes the consultation, a wash, a scissor and or razor cut, styling, and at-home advice. New client color starts at $160 and takes at least two hours. Clover's rate for it is $80 an hour, with the hours set at the consultation, and the deposit is non-refundable but goes toward the final payment.

Returning clients have shorter options. A returning client cut takes 75 minutes and includes a wash, cut, styling, and at-home advice. A haircut refresh takes 40 minutes and is a dry cut with light styling, for clients who had a full cut with Clover within the last 12 weeks. Bangs and Bits is a 15-minute trim of bangs and the hair in front of the ears. Returning clients receive two free bang trims between full cuts, and no more than two refresh visits can be booked between full cuts.

Longer appointments include an extended haircut of 100 minutes, intended for very thick or curly hair or a big change. Creative Freedom Color is a 180-minute session starting at $175, offered at a discounted rate to clients who give Clover full creative freedom. A haircut add-on takes 40 minutes and can be booked alongside a color appointment.

Buy Now, Pay Later is available in person for bookings between $50 and $4,000, with approval needed before the appointment. Changes made with less than 48 hours' notice are charged half the service price, and changes with less than 12 hours' notice are charged the full price. Illness cancellations after the 48-hour mark should be reported to Clover as soon as possible, and no fee applies if the slot is filled. When the Portland bus system is running, weather cancellations are charged in full, and Clover contacts clients about rescheduling. Clients with more than three cancellations in one year cannot book further, and the cancellation policy may change.
