The salon says it takes a holistic approach to well-being and works to personalize each look to the individual. Services center on haircuts, men's cuts and color, with lightening options that range from partial and full highlights to a transformative blonding service.
Color is the main focus. Full lightening, starting at $330 and including a toner and blowout, is applied throughout the whole head and suits clients new to highlighting or those without highlights in the last six months. Partial lightening, starting at $290 with toner and blowout, places highlights along the perimeter and top half of the head and is meant for the weeks between full appointments. Transformative lightening, starting at $430, gives full blonding from roots to ends with a little depth left at the root and is suggested every eight to ten weeks for maintenance. Reverse highlights start at $330 and include a blowout and toner.
Other color services include root shadow, which blends the roots and tones the ends without covering gray and is offered to existing highlight clients, starting at $140. A base or gray touch-up, starting at $150, uses one formula to blend grown-out roots or cover gray. Toner or gloss, starting at $140, is a semi-permanent treatment that can be clear or tinted and includes a blowout. Returning clients can book an Express Toner at a reduced price. Bleach + Tone requires a consultation before a price is set.
Reservations require a credit card. Cancellations need 48 hours notice, otherwise the reserved card is charged 50% of the missed service. Clients more than 10 minutes late may not be seen for their booked appointment and a cancellation fee applies. Unattended appointments not confirmed as cancelled fall under the same policy. The salon can be reached by phone at (415) 440-7677, by text at (415) 797-0958, or by email at info@populationsalon.com.
