The studio has been set up around this one service. Lara converted one of the suites in the building into a dedicated Fairy Hair Suite, which is used only for tying fairy hair. Appointments run Monday through Saturday, 10am to 3pm, according to the scheduling page.
The business says it uses fairy hair strands said to come from Scotland's Highlands. It also states that it uses only the strands it considers the best, and that strands from Amazon and other sources are bulkier and heavier, which the business says can damage hair. Fairy hair can be worn alongside everyday styling such as blow-drying, curling, color or highlights, and haircuts.
Clients can expect the strands to stay in as long as the hair they are tied to does. The business reports an average of 6 to 8 weeks, while noting that the exact time cannot be predicted. Children 12 and under tend to shed more often than adults and may lose fairy hair somewhat sooner. If the first few strands fall out in the first couple of days, they are replaced free of charge, and a couple of extra ties are added at no cost.
Lara learned fairy hair tying through training with a fairy hair practitioner from Scotland, followed by practice, and works from a suite set aside for this one service.
The fairy hair work takes place in a suite dedicated to tying fairy hair only.
