The salon was started by parents who wanted families to have a better haircut experience. This location has served Marietta and East Cobb since 2004, and it is one of several Pigtails & Crewcuts salons, each independently owned and operated by a franchisee.
The goal is to make a haircut something children enjoy and remember. The room is made for them: children sit in vehicle-themed styling chairs, can watch an age-appropriate movie during the cut, and play with a wooden train table, video game consoles and toys. Afterward they can visit the treasure chest. According to the salon, children of any mood, including those who are crying, are welcome.
Each styling station has a parent chair beside it. Stylists are trained to work with children, and the salon offers both clipper and shear cuts for all ages. Shampooing can be added to a kids' cut, and the products used are child-safe. Appointments can be booked through the online booking page or the salon's app, which shows each stylist's availability and lets customers reschedule. Kids' walk-ins are welcome when there is space.
Beyond children's cuts, the salon offers men's and women's cuts, blow-outs, braids, and up-dos for events such as school dances, recitals and weddings. The party room hosts birthdays, with the salon handling planning, supervision and cleanup. The retail section sells hair accessories, gifts and hair care products.
