The company grew over the decades into a group of salons across the Columbus area, beginning with a large Dublin Grand Salon in 1991 and a Gahanna/New Albany day spa in 1996. The current PENZONE Salons + Spas concept opened its Dublin location in 2018, and the Polaris concept launched in Lewis Center in 2019.

The business describes its approach to beauty as holistic, aiming for guests to feel good inside as well as outside, and presents itself as a community for self-care. Hair, makeup, skincare, massage and nails are all offered under one brand. Most locations have a bar serving wine, beer, specialty coffee and cocktails, with food from Cameron Mitchell Premier Events. Salon locations offer digital or iPad check-in kiosks, and gift cards are available.

Listed prices are starting prices and can change with complexity. Hair pricing depends on stylist level, from hair artist in training up to senior director, and nail and massage pricing also varies by artist or therapist level. Massage sessions are tailored after a consultation, and each booking includes an extra 15 minutes for setting up the room. Appointments should be changed at least 24 hours ahead to avoid late-cancel charges, and missed appointments without notice may be charged the full service price. For bundled or detailed arrangements, guests are asked to call or text the salon.

Training is a stated focus. The company runs a self-paced hiring and training program for salon and spa professionals at every career stage, with hiring open year-round. The New Artist Concept was created to help hair artists in training build their skills. It sits inside BASE ONE, an immersive space in Dublin that also hosts trainings, curated events, a second LIT Life + Yoga studio, rentable event and office spaces, and a creative studio. BASE ONE is aimed at already licensed hair artists refining their work, supported by a Creative Educator.

Each location has its own setting. The Dublin salon, off Sawmill Road near Bridge Park, has an open, high-energy space with natural light, a Spa Lounge where spa guests wear plush robes, and SOUNDOFF headsets and eye masks on request. The German Village salon is a small, eight-chair salon in a historic brick building and welcomes bridal parties of any size. The Polaris salon has a flex space used for well-being offerings, a Try Me Bar for testing products and tools, and artwork curated by the Penzone family. The Short North salon is in the Castle Building, has a parking garage behind it, and includes a Social Room cafe with plant-based and protein-focused options and Crimson Cup coffee.

According to the salon, it has been recognized as Best Salon and Best Spa by several Columbus publications, named Ohio Magazine's Best Destination Spa, and featured in Salon Today and Modern Salon. The salon also says its Dublin location was recognized as a North American Hairstyling Awards Salon Design of the Year and its Polaris salon as Salon Today's Salon of the Year. It says its team is nearly 500 people. The business supports causes including Wigs for Kids, Girls on the Run, Komen Columbus Race for the Cure and the YWCA, and offers a donation request form for community initiatives.

The salon describes its approach as holistic, with the goal that guests leave feeling good inside as well as outside. Education is central to how it works, with training that includes new certifications and career paths for artists and therapists.
