PARLR is a hair salon and spa in a building of roughly 11,000 square feet in Framingham. Rachael Shtifter founded it after conceiving the concept in her college dorm room in 2010, and the salon has grown by keeping pace with changes in services, industry standards and design.

Visitors park in a large open lot and enter at the inner point where the two buildings meet. Stairs or an elevator lead up to the salon. Inside, the decor is trendy, the spa area is designed to feel calm, dark and quiet, and there is a coffee bar and individual charging ports at each station.

The menu covers hair cutting and styling, color including balayage and foils, hair extensions, body and face waxing, brow and lash services, spray tans and a range of facials. The facial menu includes several Hydrafacial variations, dermaplaning, a chemical peel add-on, nano-needling, a gua sha facial, a sensitive skin facial, a buccal facial massage and a Dr. Dennis Gross vitamin C treatment. Appointments can be made by phone at 508-202-9538, online, or by text for existing clients. The salon is open Tuesday to Thursday 9AM to 8PM, Friday 9AM to 7PM and Saturday 9AM to 5PM, and is closed Sunday. On Mondays only the phones are staffed.

Cancellations or reschedules need 48 hours notice. Otherwise the card on file is charged the full price of the booked service.

The PARLR Academy is a two-year program for recent cosmetology graduates and newer stylists. Classes are small and led by a master hairstylist, with students attending one full-day class each month. Academy students may perform haircuts after one year on the salon floor, and graduates are expected to join the salon team as commissioned junior stylists.

The salon describes itself as a nationally recognized beauty destination and as highly awarded. It also says it was voted Best Of Boston and was voted one of Boston's Best Places to Work twice.

The salon says its focus is the client's experience and a positive team culture.
