Osaka Beauty House runs two locations. River North, at 24 West Erie in Chicago (628-202-9554), is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 21:00 and Saturday to Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00. Park Ridge, at 10 S Northwest Hwy (847-720-4726), is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 20:00 and Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00.

About

The signature is the e-file clean manicure, which uses an electronic drill to clean and shape the nails and to remove dead skin around the cuticle. The salon says these manicures last well over a month. Its Signature Gel Manicure (Russian) uses the drill to take off old polish and shape the nail, then builds a solid-colour hard gel, with an optional single gel colour on top. A version for naturally long or previously extended nails takes about 1 hour 40 minutes, and the extra-long version is $110 and about two hours.

Full sets and nail extensions are $80 and take about two hours, using gel sculpting, polygel, gel-x and tips. Gel extensions come in short, medium and long lengths and start from an e-file base. Nail art covers French, ombre, glitter, diamond stones, stickers and hand drawing, priced by design, and must be booked with a manicure or pedicure in advance. The salon may decline nail art that would disrupt its schedule.

According to the salon, every tool is individually sterilized and sealed before each appointment, and it says it exceeds U.S. sanitation standards and uses certified, premium-grade products. If a service does not meet expectations within five days, the salon will fix it. Cancellations need at least 24 hours notice, and late cancellations or no-shows may be charged a fee.

Training is offered in person at the River North studio or online. The online course is $190, self-paced, and includes 12 video lessons, PDF notes, a graduates chat, homework review and a certificate. The in-person premium course runs two days for up to eight students at $490 and includes a drill bit set, a live model and materials. The VIP course is $790 over two days for up to three students and includes two live models, work review and 30 days of instructor support. Tuition can be paid in two installments with no interest, and students receive an Osaka Beauty House certificate on completion.
