Opal House is a collective in Tacoma's McKinley Hill neighborhood where independent beauty professionals work in a shared space. Jamie Carter and Casey Penny co-founded it, and each professional has their own business within it.
Every stylist here runs an independent business: they set their own services, prices and booking rules, and look after their own client list. Because there is no shared salon menu, clients choose whoever's work fits what they want.
Hair services include cuts, color, curly and textured hair care, blonding, styling, treatments, smoothing services and perms. Skincare and waxing are customized esthetic services offered by individual professionals, and wellness is part of the collective's offerings.
According to the salon, it aims to be a place where guests come away feeling looked after, valued and energised.
