After hair school they started out as assistants and worked toward opening a salon of their own. They spent 14 years building their careers before opening One Studio and relocating from California to Texas.

The founders say collaboration rather than competition drives success, and they treat their team members as partners. The salon describes its service as a luxury experience, with personalized consultations and ongoing support between visits.

The service menu is organized into three color categories: traditional color, One Studio Signature highlights and transformations, and lived-in color. Haircuts, blowouts, custom services, treatments and a la carte add-ons are also available, as are hair extension applications, an extension menu and extension maintenance appointments. Color is sold individually and is never bundled with a haircut, blow-dry or styling. Color correction calls for a consultation before it can be booked.

Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 AM to 8 PM, Thursday and Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Monday visits are by appointment only, and the salon is closed on Sundays. Parking is complimentary, with additional spaces on the top level of the parking structure. Color services require a 50% non-refundable retainer to book, and new clients place a non-refundable retainer with their first appointment that goes toward the service. Cancellations made at least 48 hours ahead can be rescheduled at no charge, while later cancellations incur a fee of 50% of the total service amount and no-shows are charged the full service. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may lead to rescheduling with the cancellation fee applied.

The founders describe a collaborative team and personalized service, with consultations and support between visits.
