Olivia Nail Bar was founded by Vanessa Schneider, and the name comes from the olive trees on Wagner Ranch Nature Area in Orinda. The salon calls itself a neighborhood nail salon serving the Lamorinda area, and its logo's circle is meant to reflect the idea of karma.
The salon works to be gentle on both skin and the environment. Its scrubs and lotions are mixed in-house using sea salt, shea butter, olive oil, honey, raw sugar, lemon and essential oils, with no preservatives added. Nail polishes are formulated without dibutyl phthalate, toluene or formaldehyde, and the remover is acetone-free. Roughly 1,000 shades from several brands are on the shelves.
A visit can be a simple polish change or a longer session. Spa manicures and pedicures include a massage, a hot towel and a complimentary drink (wine, tea or mimosa, depending on the service). Pedicures are done at one of seven stationary sinks, and four copper pedicure bowls are also available. Dip Power begins with nail and cuticle maintenance and a massage, then a hot towel, then SNS dip powder.
The salon says sanitation is its top priority. Tools and equipment are cleaned and disinfected after every client, then sealed in hospital-grade pouches. For groups, a private room can be booked, and mani/pedi parties are welcome if the salon is called ahead. Group and party bookings require a 10% deposit. Gift certificates can be bought online and either printed or sent by email.
Aims for natural, environmentally gentle products and treats each client the way they would want to be treated.
The salon has a waterfall and decor meant to feel relaxing and energizing.
