The salon was founded in Manhasset in 1973 by hair designer Michael Mazzei, who is credited with helping shape consultation-led cutting, modern hair design and customized service. He also helped develop the ARTEC Worldwide professional hair care business, which L'Oreal acquired in 2002, and he trained many stylists. Hair services cover haircuts and styling, customized to each client's lifestyle and blending classic designs with current trends; hair color, offered in a room with daylight-diffusing domes and mirrors, with steam conditioning and color-accelerating units and a private area available on request; and specialty treatments including Brazilian keratin relaxing, Kerastase conditioning and soft perms, each preceded by an in-depth consultation.

The spa side offers a range of facials, from a 30-minute express cleansing facial to 60- and 75-minute treatments aimed at acne-prone skin, premature aging and photo-damaged skin, dull or uneven skin, and sensitive, reactive skin. Body treatments include sugar, sea salt and mud-based polishes and wraps. Massage options run from express scalp and neck work to full-body Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology and pre-natal sessions.

The Make-Up Center provides custom makeup application using the salon's exclusive cosmetics and skincare, with complimentary consultations on request. Bridal and special occasion services can cover a whole wedding party; bridal questions go to the in-house Bridal Expert at (516) 627-9444 extension 236. Spa Day packages combine treatments into a single visit at three price points, starting at $200.
