NVLET has prepared students for Virginia esthetics licensure since 2007 and holds a Virginia DPOR school license. The school says students commute from Prince William, Stafford, Spotsylvania and Fairfax counties, and it describes itself as a premier esthetician training school in Northern Virginia. Its stated mission is to prepare future estheticians through thorough education, hands-on training and continuing professional development.
The two main courses, Fundamental Esthetics and Advanced Esthetics, each run 600 hours and prepare students for the Virginia esthetician and master esthetician licenses. Wax Technician is a separate 115-hour course that leads to a wax technician license. Fundamental can be taken as a hybrid cohort or as an in-person daytime class held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, while Wax Technician meets on Thursdays. Virginia requires 1,200 total hours for the esthetician and master esthetician licenses. Students carry out practical work on real clients, all completed in person at the Stafford teaching spa: 220 performances for the esthetician license, 215 for master esthetician, and 36 for wax technician. The salon lists each full program at a total investment of $11,995, including $10,395 in tuition, and lists the Wax Technician program at $3,500.
Theory, assignments and tests are completed online through CIMA and the student portal, while hands-on work takes place in a single classroom with an esthetics lab of facial beds, trolleys, tools, professional products and machines. Students keep the same instructor through their practical sessions and can email instructors outside class hours. Instructors hold a current Virginia esthetics license and a state instructor certification, and they bring field experience from medical spas, laser treatment and professional waxing. At the teaching spa, students perform services under instructor supervision, and clients book by appointment and complete a survey after each session. The school states that these services cost less than many clients might pay elsewhere.
NVLET also runs injection training for medical aestheticians, two-day neurotoxin and dermal filler courses led by Margaret McIntyre, a master level educator and medical spa owner with more than 20 years of experience. Classes are capped at 10 students and include a full day of classroom instruction with hands-on kits and a training manual, with refreshments and lunch provided. Students who sign up for both neurotoxin and filler training receive a complimentary local hotel stay. A state board prep course is also offered.
On funding, the school accepts MyCAA, which applies to all its courses and provides up to $4,000 for eligible military spouses, and G.I. Bill benefits for the in-person Fundamental cohort; hybrid courses do not qualify. Paying tuition 30 days before a course starts reduces tuition by $500, and payment plans are available. The school says many students find work before they graduate, but it does not place graduates in jobs. It posts openings from employers who contact it and writes recommendation letters for students who met or exceeded expectations.
Programs pair online theory through CIMA with in-person practical training at the Stafford campus, with students working on real clients in the teaching spa under licensed instructors.
Training takes place in a single classroom with a fully equipped esthetics lab.
