Northcoast Electrolysis Clinic offers electrolysis permanent hair removal at two offices: one in the Dover Junction shopping area of Bay Village, and one on East Harbor Road in Marblehead. Both are by appointment only, with no walk-ins, and can be reached by phone at (216) 401-6510.
Every new client begins with a private, confidential consultation, which is complimentary and booked ahead. After that, an electrologist prepares a tailored treatment plan and selects between shortwave, galvanic and blend methods. Sessions run from about 15 minutes to more than an hour depending on the area. Online listings start at $45 for 15 minutes and reach $160 for 90 minutes, though the clinic says cost depends on how much hair is removed, the size of the area and the provider, so clients are asked to contact the office for a quote. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice, late arrivals are charged for their originally scheduled time, appointments may not be extended, and payment is due at the visit by cash or major credit card.
The range of services includes beard, neck, ear, back, chest, shoulder and eyebrow work for men; treatment for athletes; coarse, curly or wavy hair, which the clinic notes can be prone to ingrown hairs and raised bumps; and darker skin tones. Sensitive areas such as the breast area are treated, as are hair changes linked to age, pregnancy, medical conditions or medication. The clinic also offers PCOS and hirsutism treatment, noting that a PCOS diagnosis and its management require an endocrinologist. Teens are seen, with clients under 16 accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and transgender clients can seek permanent removal of facial and body hair. Electrolysis can be performed on most moles where licensing rules allow, and may require written physician approval.
Clients are told that the skin is typically red after treatment and that the redness usually fades within the day. Shaving between sessions is fine, tweezing should be avoided, and gently exfoliating the skin beforehand is recommended. Treatments sting briefly, and the clinic says most clients tolerate them well. The number of visits varies, since deep, coarse hairs may need more than one session, and the clinic says consistent appointments lead to permanence sooner than sporadic ones. Infection prevention follows standards written by the American Electrology Association, which draw on CDC, OSHA and APIC recommendations. Aftercare product suggestions are made by the electrologist based on skin type and treatment program.
Each client begins with a consultation and receives a tailored plan, with the electrologist choosing among shortwave, galvanic and blend methods. The clinic emphasizes steady, regular appointments as the route to lasting results.
