Founded in 1963, the clinic has offered electrolysis to Chicago's North Shore for decades. The clinic says it has been trusted in the area for more than 60 years.
Treatments are carried out by licensed electrologists using one of three methods. Thermolysis is a high-frequency method that uses heat to destroy hair follicles and is described as suited to fine to medium hair. Galvanic uses direct current and a chemical reaction and is described as suited to coarse hair. Blend combines the two.
Treatment is available on the face, eyebrows, bikini line, underarms, legs, chest and back. Hairy moles can be treated with a doctor's approval, and nose and ear canal treatments take place under physician supervision. Topical anesthetics are offered for sensitive areas.
The clinic describes electrolysis as the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal and says its treatments are safe for all skin types and hair colors. It also says its facility exceeds Illinois and OSHA sterilization requirements and that it works closely with dermatologists and plastic surgeons. These are the clinic's own claims.
Treatments are overseen by a medical director and performed by licensed electrologists, with physician supervision for specialized procedures.
