Nirvana Hair Studio operates from Suite 5 inside Sola Salons at 15343 W. National Ave in New Berlin. Services are offered to women only, on a one-on-one basis, and the studio does not double book, so each client has the chair to herself. Mistie Dawn is the owner, and the studio welcomes clients from across the Milwaukee area.

The color menu runs from a root touch-up called Roots & Run to Mini, Signature and Luxe custom color, which add face-framing highlights, full-head highlights or lowlights, and hand-placed highlights or balayage, each with a haircut and a color lock treatment. Color services use low-to-zero ammonia color infused with Keraveg-18. Color correction requires a beauty planning consultation before booking. Hair extensions are Strands, installed with lightweight bead wefts; first-time extension clients need a consultation, and existing extension clients can book move-ups, priced from $150 to $250 per row and including a shampoo, conditioning treatment, massaging chair, steamed towel and eye mask.

Spa haircuts and blow outs come with a massaging shampoo, steamed towel and eye mask, and the Glow-Up Blow Out adds a conditioning treatment and shine glaze. Add-ons include K18 repair, conditioning treatments with pricing based on hair needs, scalp detox and chelating cleanse, red light scalp therapy, and an algae eye treatment infused with collagen and hyaluronic acid. Appointments can be booked as longer, extra long or extra extra long. Brow treatments cover shaping, brow and lip waxing, chin waxing and brow tinting.

Hair clippings from the studio are sent to Matter Of Trust, a non-profit that makes mats used to absorb oil and pollutants in oceans. According to the studio, Milwaukee Magazine named Nirvana Hair Studio one of the top salons. Card payments carry a 2.5% processing fee, while cash has no fee. Gift cards come in $50, $75, $100 and $200 amounts or a custom amount, and gift card sales are final.

The studio runs a private, one-on-one schedule with no double booking and uses low-to-zero ammonia color infused with Keraveg-18. Product formulas are described as free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, DEA and aluminum starch, and as cruelty free.

A calm, private room with spa-style touches such as warm eye masks, steamed towels, hand massage and a warmed blanket.
