About

Nectarine LLC offers permanent hair removal by electrolysis from an office suite at the Fishers Trade Center in Fishers, Indiana. The practice is housed within Yeager Office Suites of II Fishers.

Electrolysis works by placing a fine, sterile probe sized to each hair into its follicle, down to the dermal papilla. A low-level current then disables that part of the follicle so the hair can be lifted out. The business says the method has been used for more than a century and presents it as a lasting alternative to ongoing waxing, shaving, or plucking.

The practice offers three approaches: galvanic, which uses direct current to create a compound in the follicle that disables the papilla; thermolysis, which uses high-frequency current to generate heat for the same purpose; and a blend that combines both currents in one probe. The electrologist chooses the method according to hair type, skin characteristics, and how sensitive the client is.

Treatment is a series of sessions over time. Many hairs can be cleared in a single visit, while others may need several. Because hair grows in cycles, only hairs visible at the skin's surface are treated in any one session, so the total number of visits depends on how much hair there is, how coarse it is, what is causing it, and other factors. Clients are told the sensation is usually similar to a minor sting or pinch.

Nectarine offers electrolysis across a wide range of body areas. For women, treatment covers the hairline, eyebrows, ears, nose, cheeks, sideburns and lips, moving down through the lower face and throat to the neck, the upper body and trunk, the breasts and abdomen, and the limbs and extremities, down to each toe and finger. For men, the listed areas are the hairline, eyebrows, beard line, ears, nose, neck, shoulders, back and chest. The salon also offers electrolysis for ingrown hairs, which it says are a common concern for men.

There are a few limits. The inside of the ear canal and the inside of the nose are not treated. Hairy moles may be treated with a physician's approval. The breast and abdominal areas are not treated after the sixth month of pregnancy.

Method is matched to each client's hair type, skin characteristics, and sensitivity, with treatment planned as a series over time.
