Nautiwax was founded by Natasha, the owner and waxing specialist, as a studio meant to feel more comfortable than a fast-paced waxing appointment. The studio is set in a suite with a coastal, beach-inspired look, and its name is a play on the word nautical.

About

Waxing is done with hard wax, which the studio chooses for both speed and comfort. The studio describes its approach as precise, thorough and gentle, and says no hairs are left behind after a service. Its pricing is described as competitive without giving up quality. The Google rating is listed as 5.0 stars, according to the studio's website.

The menu is a la carte, with bundles for popular combinations. Brazilian options range from a shorter Brazilian to The Cheeky Brazilian, which goes further on the lower and outer cheeks, and a Wax Then Relax Brazilian that adds a hydrojelly mask. A Seasonally Smooth bundle pairs a Brazilian with a stomach strip and a choice of underarm or inner thigh wax. Men can book a grooming bundle covering eyebrows, ears and nostrils, or a grooming package covering eyebrows, nose and ears, which includes a buy-five-get-one-free offer.

Booking requires a valid credit card on file and picture ID, and appointments must be under the name of the person being seen. Clients must be 18 or older, or have a parent or legal guardian present at the first appointment. Some services ask for a deposit, and new clients or those rescheduling consecutive appointments may need one. Cancellations within 24 hours carry a 35 percent service charge, and no-shows a 50 percent charge, both to the card on file. Consent forms must be signed before the appointment, and arrivals 10 minutes or more late may need to reschedule.

Before a visit, clients are asked to exfoliate 24 to 48 hours ahead, but not on the same day, and to skip lotion, oil and deodorant on the area that day. Afterward, hot showers, baths, saunas, swimming and direct sun or tanning beds are best avoided for 24 to 48 hours. Hair should be at least a quarter inch long, and four weeks of growth is recommended after shaving for best results. Services can be held during a menstrual cycle if a fresh tampon is used.
