NAILBAY

NailBay is a Los Angeles nail salon on Melrose Avenue. The business describes itself as a crystal-infused destination for pampering and revitalizing nails, and crystals are built into each service rather than offered as an add-on.

Visits combine genuine crystals with pink Himalayan salt and herbs sourced locally. Each client receives a massage of the hands or feet using a clear quartz wand, and picks one of seven Chakra oils to use. The salon says its spa products are handmade, naturally formulated and free of toxic chemicals and preservatives. Its product approach is informed by traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese methods.

According to the salon, hygiene is a priority. Each service begins with a freshly opened sterile pouch of clean supplies, and tools and instruments are autoclaved after every use. Files and buffers are single-use for each client, and clients are allowed to keep them. Stones are cleaned by hand and smudged with sage between customers.

Gel-X fill-ins are not offered. Each Gel-X visit instead includes free removal of the old set and a new set. The space is also available for hire for birthday and bridal parties, benefit events, product launches and film locations.
