Founder Maureen Grogan left a corporate career at age 22 to pursue esthetics. She trained at the Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics, where she enrolled in 1994, and then spent the first twelve years of her career at a Boston spa before opening her own practice. The business says she was featured in Boston Magazine and that N-vie has been honored as Esthetician of the Year, Best Facial and Best Skincare; these are the business's own claims.

New clients begin with the N-vie New Client Facial, a 90 to 120 minute appointment that includes an in-depth consultation, skin analysis, a custom facial, a home care strategy and an ongoing treatment plan. Most treatments are recommended at the appointment itself, after the skin is assessed. For people who find the business through social media or live far away, a 30-minute virtual consultation by video or phone is available, and half of its fee can be applied toward recommended skincare products.

Signature offerings include DiamondGlow x N-vie, a non-invasive facial that uses Allergan's DiamondGlow technology to exfoliate, extract and infuse serums.
