Mystic Ginger was founded in 2018 by Kellie D'Ascenzo and Kristen Dolan, and it combines a hair salon with an herbal apothecary under one roof on South Black Horse Pike in Blackwood. Kellie makes the apothecary's remedies by hand, using organic, homegrown and wild-harvested botanicals.

Hair services include haircuts, all-over and partial color, highlights, balayage, glazes and gloss, treatments and masks, keratin treatment, blowouts and styling. Color correction starts with a consultation before any pricing is set. Hair consultations are complimentary, and prices are starting amounts rather than fixed totals. New clients put a card on file to hold an appointment, and appointments of three hours or more ask for a $50 deposit up front. Appointments are requested online or by phone. Hair services are available from age 14.

The Kinroot Ritual is Kristen's signature appointment, combining master color and cutting with optional ayurvedic scalp massage, energy work, chakra clearing, crystal healing and aromatherapy. Separately, The Temple Healing Space offers energy blueprint assessments, spiritual support coaching and chakra and meridian balancing, and its sessions can draw on herbal healing, wellness coaching, Reiki, aromatherapy, sound healing, breathwork and guided meditation.

Upstairs, Mystic Ginger Wellness Collective hosts workshops, classes and gatherings, including seasonal events and classes in traditional folk herbalism.

The salon operates as a Davines concept salon, uses plant-based, biodegradable products and holds Certified Sustainable Salon status. It states that it recycles up to 95% of its salon waste.

Mystic Ginger takes a holistic approach, pairing hair care with herbal remedies, energy work and education, and it favors plant-based and biodegradable products.
