About

The school's history begins in 1958, when Joseph Hornsby took charge of the Moler System of Beauty Culture in central Cincinnati. Mark IV Hairstylists bought the school from Hornsby's estate in 1972. The following year it absorbed the student enrollments of the Hollywood School of Hair Designing and took the name Moler-Hollywood Beauty College. The company now operates as Moler Pickens Inc., a name adopted in 1983.

Training is organized into several programs. Cosmetology runs 1,500 hours and covers haircutting, coloring, highlights, balayage, color correction, perms, relaxers, styling, braiding, extensions, weaves, wig making, facials, makeup, waxing, manicures, pedicures and eyelash extensions. Combination Advanced Cosmetology runs 1,800 hours and adds salon management. Esthetician runs 600 hours, and the esthetician and manicuring combination runs 800 hours. A 200-hour manicuring program can be completed in as little as seven weeks. The manicuring and combination programs are offered only at the Fairfield campus, while the Cincinnati campus offers cosmetology and esthetics on full-time, part-time and night schedules.

Walk-in clients are served by students, who work under the guidance of qualified instructors. The Cincinnati campus includes a student salon staffed by licensed professionals who oversee each service. A large parking lot sits in front of the building for the use of students and clients alike. At the Cincinnati location, full-time cosmetology classes meet Tuesday through Saturday, while esthetics classes meet Monday through Thursday; both run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Evening students may not check in after 6 p.m. at either campus.

The school is accredited by NACCAS, and it states that it is an accredited beauty school. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and hold a high school diploma or GED certificate. Financial aid, including federal aid for eligible students, and scholarships are available, and high school graduates may apply for scholarships. Prospective students can tour either campus, get help from the admissions team, and apply through the website or by phone.

Students learn a technique first and then perform it on real clients under the direct supervision of licensed professionals. Instructors attend beauty conferences each year to keep the curriculum current.
