Moka Beauté Atelier is set up for bridal makeup, special occasion looks, everyday makeup and makeup education. The studio is at 3420 Rusk Street, Suite 29, inside EaDo Workspaces, close to Downtown Houston and Dynamo Stadium, and it serves Houston and the surrounding area. Ashley Adams owns the business and performs most of the makeup work and teaching herself.

The studio has specialized in bridal and wedding makeup since 2012 and works with about 40 brides a year. It describes itself as a premium bridal makeup studio in Houston, with on-location wedding makeup for multiethnic bridal parties and large groups. Its sister brand, Blk Phx Studio, was previously called Moka Beauté Photography and offers headshot, branding, lifestyle and holiday portrait sessions with makeup.

An in-studio appointment runs 75 minutes, and the artist brings a professional kit, so clients do not need to bring their own makeup, though they may. The studio prefers its own products and uses sanitation equipment to clean between clients. Clients are asked to arrive with a clean face and, if possible, have their brows waxed or threaded beforehand, and to wax or thread facial hair three to four days before. Appointments last up to 60 minutes, and longer eye looks need to be discussed with the artist before booking. The studio does not offer hair, airbrush, eyebrow waxing or threading services.

Teaching is a major part of the business. Everyday makeup classes run one-on-one, in pairs or with a personal makeup shopper, and there are teen lessons, group classes, bride-to-be lessons, a four-hour Face Forward class for working makeup artists, and virtual lessons. Students can choose a format that fits their goals, from building basic application skills to refining professional technique.

Aims to enhance each client's existing features, and the studio states its artist kits are equipped for all skin tones and skin types. Lessons focus on helping students apply makeup the way a professional would.
