Modern Sage Salon is a small, private studio on South University Boulevard in Denver, across from the University of Denver. It is owned by Jessica Brever, who also works as a stylist there. The studio describes its work as holistic and personal, with cuts, color and care shaped around each client.
Parking is at street level under the apartment building on the southeast corner of South University and Evans, in the retail garage rather than the residential one, and the concierge validates parking tickets when you leave. Appointments are confirmed by text two days ahead and again 48 hours before. Cancellations need at least 24 hours notice; later cancellations are charged half the reserved amount, and no-shows are charged the full amount.
Extensions are a central part of the menu. The hair is full cuticle Remy hair with the cuticles kept intact and running in the same direction, and extension prices cover the hair, application and a cut. An extension consultation requires a $50 deposit that is applied to the full service. After installation, extensions should not be washed for at least 24 hours, should not be colored at home, and are best cared for with sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner.
