Mimi's Braiding Bar

Mimi's Braiding Bar is a braiding salon at 600 South Weber Road, Suite 5, in Romeoville. It was founded by owner and stylist Mimi Cann, and the team includes nearly 10 professional braiding stylists. The salon describes itself as the salon of choice and says it pairs each client with a braider who specializes in the requested style.

The salon offers box braids, knotless braids, feed-in braids, Senegalese twists, faux locs and boho curls, and boho curls can be added to select braid styles. Clients can ask for two braiders to work at the same time for the full appointment. Appointment length is chosen under the Add On option, and if no length is selected, midback length is booked. Durations are estimates and vary with the braider's speed and the length and size of the hair.

Hair needs to arrive detangled, washed, dried and free of product. A wash service is available for $30 for adults and $15 for kids. Children under 8 are not serviced. No extra guests are allowed, parents included, so parents wait in their car during a child's service and may check in during the appointment. Clients with sensitive skin may bring their own products, and the salon is not liable for reactions to products.

When booking, clients are asked to upload a valid government-issued photo ID, which the salon uses to reduce fraudulent chargebacks; it is kept confidential and used for no other purpose. Waitlist spots can also be reserved online at no cost, though the salon may reach out to waitlisted clients days or even weeks in advance. Clients have a 15-minute grace period. After that, a $5 fee applies for each 5 minutes of lateness, and the salon may cancel an appointment if the client arrives more than 30 minutes late. To move an appointment, the online booking must be updated by 11:30am. Missing an appointment without calling to cancel means half the service price is charged to the card on file, and the client is barred from the salon. Refunds are not offered. The salon accepts cash and card. Card payments carry a $5 fee per transaction. Apple Pay and tap payments are accepted, but Cash App and Zelle cannot be used for the final payment. Free Wi-Fi is available, and an on-site vending machine accepts dollars and coins.
