About

Michelle Hinds runs the practice and sees clients herself. Before becoming an electrologist she worked as a physicist, with research in space plasma physics. She says she is now filing patents on ideas she believes can improve electrolysis, and the practice's method is built around her approach to the work.

The practice describes its method as producing a much better regrowth rate than thermolysis alone, and says a skilled practitioner can permanently destroy about 50 to 60 percent of treated hairs in a single session. It also describes laser as hair reduction rather than permanent removal. Those are the practice's own claims, not guarantees of results.

Visits begin with an in-person look at the area, because session length and the number needed can only be estimated after that. Sessions run 30 or 60 minutes, and clients can book back-to-back sessions when their schedule allows. Visitors ring the callbox by the elevator in the center of the building to reach the office. Most of Michelle's clients come in for facial hair removal.

Before a session, the practice recommends shaving rather than waxing, plucking, sugaring or threading. For tweezing treated hairs, it suggests letting hair grow to about 3 mm, roughly two to three days after shaving. It also advises hydrating from 36 hours beforehand and avoiding direct sun and tanning for several days. Afterward, it suggests staying out of direct sun for 48 hours and applying aloe vera in the morning and evening.

Common side effects are redness, swelling and temporary irritation, which the practice says usually ease shortly after a session. Numbing creams and over-the-counter pain relievers are commonly used to ease discomfort. Moda is an in-network insurer, and the office helps with out-of-network prior authorizations, which usually need a referral from a primary care provider. The practice says it welcomes clients regardless of background, identity, health or other status.

Uses the Blend method, which combines galvanic electrolysis with a low level of thermolysis, and does not use thermolysis alone.
