MG Electrology

MG Electrology offers electrolysis, a method of permanent hair removal in which a sterile probe is inserted into each hair follicle and a small amount of current or heat is applied. The studio is in a suite at Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood, and every visit is booked in advance by appointment.

From there, a customized appointment plan is put together. Sessions are offered in 15-minute ($45), 30-minute ($60), 60-minute ($110) and 120-minute ($210) lengths. Most people need a series of sessions, and how many depends on the individual. The business says full results can take an average of 8 to 18 months, depending on many factors. Treatment can be performed on tattooed skin. Treatments are carried out with the Apilus Senior 3G machine. All equipment is cleaned and sterilized before and after each client's use.

Clients are asked to share any current or past health conditions before treatment, including diabetes, pregnancy, pacemakers, medications, topical creams, and allergies to metals or latex. Retinoids should be stopped at least one week ahead and Accutane at least six months ahead. Bleaching hair right before an appointment and sun exposure in the 48 hours before treatment are also discouraged. Once electrolysis has started, the treated area should not be waxed, tweezed or threaded; shaving or trimming between sessions is fine. After treatment, swimming is not recommended for 48 hours, and sun or tanning salon exposure should be avoided for 72 hours. For a short period, clients are asked to keep perfume, harsh chemicals, makeup and deodorant away from the treated skin, and not to pick at scabs. Hours are Tuesday and Thursday 10am to 7pm, Wednesday and Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday 11am to 6pm, and closed Sunday and Monday.
