Mesa Verde Electrolysis

Mesa Verde Electrolysis has been providing permanent hair removal in Costa Mesa since 1977. The practice is owned and run by electrologist Marilyn Lauermann, and its focus is electrolysis, a method that treats individual hair follicles.

Electrolysis can be used on almost every part of the body, with the exceptions of eyelashes and the inside of the nose. The practice lists brows, facial hair, underarms and the bikini line as common areas for women, and brows, facial hair, beard shaping, ears, the nape, back and chest for men. It also addresses in-grown hair. The business does not use harsh chemicals as part of its treatments.

A consultation is recommended so the areas to be treated can be assessed before a first session. Clients are asked to avoid waxing and tweezing beforehand, since those methods can affect the follicles. Depending on factors such as hair coarseness, a full course of treatment may take six months to a year. Appointments are booked by phone at (714) 540-3283, and the studio is open Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, closed Sundays.

The salon describes electrolysis as the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal, and says that laser hair removal only reduces hair and is a temporary solution. It also describes itself as offering the most effective method of permanent hair removal.

Treatments are built around the individual, with the aim of keeping sessions as comfortable as possible.
