MelaninBraids is a braiding studio in Englewood that books appointments through its Square page. It is open every day from 9am to 10pm, and same-day appointments are available for a set fee.

The menu is organized by hair work, wig installs, a Knotless Braids group and a Services group. Kids' styles are priced by age, from under 3 through ages 3-6 and 7-10.

Work includes knotless braids in several sizes, bohemian and Fulani braids, box braids, lemonade braids, Alicia Keys braids, butterfly and regular locs, braided ponytails and half-up or half-down weave or braid styles. Men can book braids to the back, and scalp braids are offered for the front only. Lace wig installs come in half-up/half-down and updo versions.

Clients are asked to arrive with freshly washed and blown-out hair. The studio supplies the hair, edge control and oil needed for the style. Braiding hair is included, and boho hair in different colors is an added $15. If no curls are requested, $15 is taken off the price.

The business also runs a 101 class for $500 that covers being your own boss, styles, tools, building a clientele, and parts, designs and neatness. A take-down service is available, with wash included for an extra $20.

Policies: a late fee starting at $10 applies to arrivals more than 15 minutes late, and extra length starts at $10. A travel fee of $30 applies to locations 15 minutes away and $65 to locations 30 minutes or more. One reschedule is free; any later change requires a new appointment and deposit. Clients are asked not to bring extra people to appointments.
