About

MD Injections grew out of a family medicine practice that expanded to add cosmetic injections, which is where the name comes from. It operates as its own business inside Peninsula Family Medical Center on Point Fosdick Drive in Gig Harbor, though it is separate from the clinic.

The practice aims to keep each patient's natural look, using subtle enhancements to soften facial lines and wrinkles and to address volume loss. The emphasis is on safe, effective cosmetic treatments that are not overdone.

New patients have a consultation before any treatment, during which the provider goes over medical history, current medications, existing conditions, past surgeries and pregnancy status. Fillers are generally not administered at that first visit. Pricing varies with the product selected and how much is used, and an estimate is usually given at the consultation. Neurotoxin sessions take roughly 30 minutes to an hour, while filler sessions run about 1 to 1.5 hours. Appointments are booked through the website, and evening or weekend times can be requested. The practice does not take insurance. In the days before and after a treatment, patients are encouraged to give up alcohol and certain blood thinners for a few days, which may limit bruising. Botox involves minimal to no downtime. After dermal filler, strenuous exercise is generally avoided for one to two days.

According to the practice, Botox is used for medical injections in several different ways. For headaches, it is given in modified doses, and more involved procedures, such as injections into the upper neck, are referred to a neurologist. Chronic neck tension is typically addressed by combining Botox with physical therapy over about 3 to 6 months. For acne, small Botox doses are given over roughly 3 to 4 months, sometimes alongside a skin care routine. Botox is also used to treat hyperhidrosis and TMJ disorder. The practice says studies indicate Botox can lessen the emotional effects linked to mild to moderate depression.

Treatment is individualized, with both preventive and restorative goals for signs of aging.
