About

The studio is a one-practitioner space in Lake Zurich that serves clients from nearby communities, including Algonquin, Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Chicago, Libertyville, Palatine, Vernon Hills and Wheeling. The studio describes electrolysis as the first method used to remove hair permanently, starting in 1875. It also says electrolysis is the only option for permanent hair removal, and that the FDA recognizes it as the only permanent hair removal method. Those are the studio's own claims.

Electrolysis is offered for body hair, facial hair, and hair on the breasts and sensitive areas. The studio lists work for men (beard, neck, ear, back and chest hair), teenagers, athletes, transgender clients seeking facial and body hair removal, people with coarse, curly or wavy hair, people with darker skin tones, and hair growth linked to hormonal changes or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Visits begin with a complimentary consultation. Sessions run from about 15 minutes to more than an hour, depending on the area. Because hair grows in cycles, clearing an area usually takes more than one appointment, and the number of visits varies from client to client. Before a visit, clients are asked to avoid plucking, waxing, threading or tweezing, since hairs that are not visible cannot be treated. Shaving between treatments is fine, makeup should be removed beforehand, and cutting back on caffeine for a few hours before a session may make treatment more comfortable.

Booking details: treatments and consultations are by appointment only, with no walk-ins. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice. Late arrivals are charged from the originally scheduled time, and appointments may be shortened when the schedule is full. Payment is due at the visit and accepted by cash, check and major credit cards. Clients under 16 must come with a parent or legal guardian. The studio follows the infection control standards set by the American Electrology Association and is a member of that association and of the Electrology Association of Illinois.

Treatment is planned around how hair grows, so clearing an area is spread over several appointments rather than one visit.
