The practice is out of network with all insurance plans. It has opted out of Medicare, so Medicare patients can join or book a consultation as private-pay patients. It does not participate in Medicaid, though Medicaid patients can join, and Medicaid payments are not accepted. The practice says membership fees cannot currently be applied to insurance deductibles but may become eligible for health savings account payments. Prices are stated before any service, and the practice says it has no hidden fees.
Membership is priced by household size, from $199 a month for one member to $649 a month for five members, with a 10% discount for annual payment. A Home Visit Membership is available at $500 a month per person. Members get unlimited visits, phone calls and texts with the doctor, home visits when needed, and extended office visits of 30 minutes or longer. Stitches, biopsies, EKGs and stress tests are covered within the monthly fee. Members also get one complimentary integrative medicine consultation a year and 10% off acupuncture. The practice states that same-day or next-day visits are guaranteed and that members can reach the doctor by phone, email, text or Skype, including after hours. Employers with five or more employees can contract for a plan at $160 per employee per month.
Visits are not rushed. The practice describes spending 30 to 90 minutes with each patient, and says that not billing insurance leaves more time for each patient. Labs drawn in the office are billed to insurance when a patient has coverage, and are sent to the lab of the patient's choice or the lab covered by their plan. Uninsured patients receive a 70% discount on lab work at a preferred local lab, paid up front, and lab pricing is given before any draw. Lab results can be discussed by phone the same day without a required follow-up appointment.
Beyond primary care, the practice offers acupuncture, functional and integrative medicine, smoking cessation, nutrition and weight management, health coaching, and genetic testing when indicated. It also provides care coordination with specialists, accompaniment to specialist visits when medically needed, and hospital visits to coordinate with hospitalists. Pregnancy and postpartum care works alongside the patient's obstetrician or midwife, and includes newborn and new-mother home visits when needed. The practice also offers abortion services, including medication abortion and in-clinic procedures, to patients in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Michigan and to APO addresses. Visiting friends and family of patients are seen without charge.
