Maison Kieu Beauté is a one-room private studio in Newport Beach, run by founder Rachel Nguyen, who is the only esthetician and performs every service herself. Clients travel in from Corona del Mar, Laguna Beach and Irvine as well as Newport Beach itself.

Every visit is by appointment and does not accept walk-ins. Each visit begins with a short consultation to choose a treatment, and only one client is seen at a time. The studio says it does not use package pressure or upselling, and the price quoted does not change once the client is in the chair. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are charged half the service fee, and no-call, no-show appointments are charged the full fee. Gift cards can be used for any service. Booking is handled through an independent online platform, or by phone.

The facial menu centers on the Hydra Luxe, the studio's own protocol built around hydrodermabrasion, along with the Derma Luxe, which adds dermaplaning, and a glycolic peel whose strength and contact time are set for the client's skin that day. Clients booking a peel are asked to stop retinol, tretinoin and acid exfoliants five days beforehand. A Restorative Back Facial addresses congestion on the back and shoulders and is recommended three to four weeks before an event, since skin may be slightly pink for a day after extraction.

Brow work includes shaping, tinting matched to hair color and skin tone, brow lamination that lasts about six to eight weeks, and microblading with a touch-up four to six weeks after the first session and an annual refresh. Lash services include a lash lift and extension sets that need fills every two to three weeks. Parking on site is free, and the suite is at the back of the building, so clients park in the lot and walk through. Rachel will come out to help anyone who calls or texts while looking for the suite.

The studio takes the view that beauty should feel personal, unhurried and tailored rather than one-size-fits-all.
