Magic Ink SMP is a scalp micropigmentation business in Winnetka, IL. The business describes itself as a preferred option for SMP in Chicago and nearby areas, and it states it has more than 13 years of experience. Mike Muszynski founded the studio and is its lead practitioner.
SMP is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment done with a machine and micro needles. Pigment is placed in small dots that resemble natural hair follicles, and the shade is diluted with sterilized water to match the hair a client still has, including gray hair. Skin tone is matched by adjusting how much the pigment is diluted. Clients with gray hair are usually advised to wear their hair short. Most people need two to three sessions, with a fourth possible in more extreme cases. The first two sessions are usually a week to a little under two weeks apart, and the third typically falls two to six months later. Some scalp redness after a session usually settles within a day or two, and no downtime is needed. Practitioners do not give numbing agents or medications. Clients may be asked to cut their remaining hair shorter depending on the pattern of loss.
Consultations cost nothing and create no obligation, and each one includes a look at the client's medical history. The hairline is planned during this visit and can be refined over later sessions. Quotes depend on the client's place on the Norwood chart for men or the Ludwig chart for women, plus skin texture, scar tissue and the technique chosen. A complete SMP treatment starts at $1,800. The business reports that typical totals fall between $2,400 and $3,400, that some cases come in lower or higher, and that the most complex ones can run to roughly $5,000. Free quotes can be requested. Consultations can be scheduled on the website or by calling 312-883-3255.
After treatment, the business advises sun protection with SPF 50 or a hat to slow the fading of the pigment, and touch-up sessions are offered as pigment lightens over the years. According to the business, its results are permanent, scar camouflage can last ten to 15 years without touch-ups, and its scar work uses medically approved pigments. Financing is offered through United Medical Credit and MIFI, which offers same-as-cash programs. The business asks clients to get a quote before applying for financing.
Non-surgical, non-invasive scalp micropigmentation using organic pigments that are customized to each client's hair color and type.
Sessions are private, and the studio is described as clean and equipped with advanced equipment.
