Lyn Locs

Lyn Locs is run by Lyn, the owner and master loctician, who has served the Central Florida area for nearly 15 years. The work centers on cultivating, maintaining and beautifying locs, and the business states that it values quality over quantity.

New clients book a consultation before their first loc service. Consultations take place virtually, except for loc extension services, and the hair should be loose and not styled for the call. A nonrefundable booking deposit secures the appointment and counts toward the service total, and the remaining balance is paid once the service is finished.

During a service, clients receive one-on-one attention. Additional guests are not allowed at appointments, though parents may stay in the salon while their minor children are being serviced. Credit card and cash are accepted. Clients who are unhappy with a service and let the salon know will be offered help finding a solution.

Education is a second side of the business. Classes cover basics and advanced levels, plus refresher courses, and can be taken in person or online, one-on-one or in a group. Lyn also runs the Loc Lab, a Facebook learning community for loc enthusiasts, aspiring locticians and people curious about locs. The blog publishes loc care articles on maintenance, microlocs, common myths and scalp and hair health.

Lyn Locs Studios rents salon suites in Orlando to beauty and wellness professionals, including braiders, lash technicians, barbers, nail technicians, makeup artists, estheticians, massage therapists and wellness practitioners. Suites measure 108, 111 or 126 square feet and include private customizable space, storage, a small hand washing sink, water, electricity and Wi-Fi. Professionals get 24/7 access, and there is a client waiting area and parking for them and their clients.

Lyn gives one-on-one attention during loc services and puts quality ahead of volume.
