Luminaria Studios

Luminaria Studios opened in 2016, when owner Jen Davis reopened her practice and added lash extensions. The studio describes itself as Milwaukie's premier studio for lash extensions and lash lifts.

Lash extensions come in classic full sets ($150, about 2 hours) and volume or hybrid full sets ($175, about 2 hours 15 minutes). Fills run $90 or $65 for classic sets and $130 or $100 for volume and hybrid sets, depending on whether the appointment runs over or under 60 minutes. The extensions are made from polyester fiber and applied with a formaldehyde-free adhesive. Lash lifts use a vegetable-based tint and last up to 6 weeks, and clients usually return every 6 to 8 weeks to refresh the lift and tint. Brow lamination ($105 for one hour, brow tint included) lasts up to 8 weeks. Lash extension removal costs $50 and takes 45 minutes. New clients who already wear extensions need a consultation first, and full removal and a new set may be needed. Clients complete an intake and consent form at their first lash extension appointment and are asked to avoid caffeine beforehand and keep conversation to a minimum during the session.

Skincare and massage are also part of the menu. Classic Glow Facial is one hour for $95, Age Defiance Facial runs up to 90 minutes for $135, and Ultimate Stress Remover is 1 hour 45 minutes for $185, combining a mini Classic Glow facial with an upper body massage and a heated foot treatment. Massage therapy is offered for 30 minutes at $65, one hour at $95, or 90 minutes at $145, with cupping, deep tissue, relaxation, manual lymph drainage, and trigger point therapy available. Clients should wait at least two weeks after Botox or filler before a facial, or longer if their injector advises it.

Waxing covers basic brow, lip, chin, and sideburn areas at $15 per area, underarms at $30, and full face at $40, with brows booked separately. Brow design (trim, shape, tint, and wax) is $30, and lash or brow tint is $20 each or $35 for both. Soft wax is used for sensitive skin and hard wax for underarms. Facial waxing cannot be done on the same day as a facial, so the two should be booked at least 24 hours apart. The studio also lists brow lifts, acupuncture, natural nails, and pedicures among its services.

Mentoring for lash artists is a two-hour session for $200, with additional hours at $50 each. It covers fan making, isolation, face and eye shape mapping, adhesives, and client retention. It is offered to licensed cosmetologists, hairstylists, and estheticians who already hold lash certification. Lash artist certifications are now issued by Jen Davis at Luminaria Studios rather than through Lash Affair, Inc.

The studio operates by appointment and is closed on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice. Cancelling with less notice or not attending may result in a charge for the full appointment. Late arrivals may have sessions shortened, and the full scheduled cost still applies. Services are not refunded, though credit may be offered case by case. Reminders are sent 48 and 24 hours before each appointment. Minor lash issues are fixed free within the first 24 hours; after that, added lashes are billed at the standard fill rate.
