Lost Pines Resort & Spa

The resort sits on 405 acres along the Lower Colorado River, next to Bastrop State Park in Bastrop County. It calls itself a luxury resort and describes the property as an oasis of luxury and activities.

Guest rooms run from standard units with either one king bed or two queens, each sleeping up to four, to a selection of suites. The Litton House is a two-bedroom cottage that holds up to eight, with a water view, a kitchen, a fireplace and a pullout sofa bed. Some rooms have balconies, patios or water views, and several are ADA accessible, with accessible tubs or roll-in showers. Items available in rooms include a poker night set featuring Garrison Brothers Bourbon, milk and cookie deliveries, local beer, and celebration packages that can include flowers, champagne or a birthday cake. Rooms can be entered from 4 PM and are to be vacated by 11 AM, with earlier arrival or later departure depending on availability. Guests must be at least 18 and present a valid government-issued photo ID. Suite upgrades are governed by the terms of the World of Hyatt program.

Dining covers several settings. Ranch Kitchen serves seasonal food built on locally sourced ingredients, Maverick's Roadhouse serves classic Texas roadhouse fare, Maude's Bar & Terrace has indoor and outdoor seating with fire pits, seasonal cocktails and sharing plates, Heartwood House serves a Southern-inspired American breakfast every day, and Old Buck's Place serves poolside food and drinks all day.

Outside the spa and dining, the resort offers Crooked River Water Park with a 1,000-foot lazy river, a two-story waterslide, a swim-up bar, a separate heated pool for small children and an adults-only pool. The park is open daily from 8am to 10pm, tubes are included with a stay, and private cabanas and the Hummingbird Lagoon can be booked. The 7,300-yard, par 72 golf course has 18 holes. Ranch adventures, yard games, craft sessions, bike rentals and court games are on offer on site, and nearby options include McKinney Roughs Nature Park trails, Colorado River rafting, rock climbing and UTV tours. An in-house liaison team helps plan trips, reserve dining and pre-book experiences.

The resort says it wants vacations to be lived the way nature intended, with the outdoors built into the stay.
