About

Founded in 1880, the club is described as the first private membership club in Los Angeles. Its clubhouse at 7th and Olive was designed and built in 1912 and is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. According to the club, Charlie Chaplin lived there for several years, and Mary Pickford, Rudolph Valentino, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Johnny Weissmuller were among its members and guests.

Athletic space spans six floors and includes a 25-yard heated indoor lap pool, an indoor running track on a climate-controlled floor, basketball, handball, squash and racquetball courts, free weights, Olympic lifting platforms, functional fitness rigs and cardio machines. More than 60 group classes run each week, covering reformer Pilates, yoga, HIIT, kickboxing, muay thai, cycling and boxing. Personal training starts with a fitness assessment used to set short and long-term goals. Wet areas include hot tubs, whirlpools, steam rooms and dry saunas, and cold plunge tubs are in the locker rooms.

Neptune Spa, the club's day spa, is open to members and hotel guests. It offers a signature aromatherapy facial, a range of facials and body treatments, deep tissue massage and Relaxing Salt Stone massage. Spa appointments are booked by calling the Mercury Sports Shop at 213-630-5233. Cancellations must be made 24 hours ahead, or the full service is billed at 100%. Non-members can book spa services as hotel guests, while members receive a discounted rate.

The hotel has 72 rooms and suites in a historic 1880 landmark building and is open to the public, so membership is not needed to stay. Hotel guests get full club amenity access through a $35 nightly destination fee, and spa services are extra. Deluxe King rooms sleep two and measure 328 square feet, and one-bedroom suites feature custom furniture and Frette linens. Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. and check-out at 12:00 p.m., with early check-in or late check-out available on request. Families with children are welcome, and service animals are allowed while other pets are not.

Dining includes the Famous Players café and restaurant, Invention, a lunch and dinner room in a prohibition-style space on the third floor, The Blue Room, a gathering space with vintage sporting equipment, and Duke's Sports Bar on level two. Dining is open to members and hotel guests. Co-working covers about 17,000 square feet of flexible workspace with high-speed internet and private meeting rooms that can be booked. Memberships include the Executive at $245 per month with a $895 initiation fee, the Young Executive for ages 29 and under at $245 per month with a $400 initiation fee, and a Family Add-On at $125 per month. Corporate memberships are priced on request. Rates and terms are subject to change.
