Locs & Key

Locs & Key has operated since 2008 and has used its current name since 2020. It is a team-based salon focused on locs, braids and natural hair, led by its owner Key alongside a small group of stylists.

The salon is a suite inside Fredem Salon Studios, and space is limited, so clients are asked not to bring extra people unless necessary. Arriving clients check in at a kiosk outside the suite, where the stylist confirms their identity and lets them in.

Online booking opens 45 days ahead, and a waitlist can be joined there when no suitable time is available. Consultations are offered to talk through services before booking, and the salon also runs Locs & Key classes. Hours are Tuesday to Thursday 10:30am to 6:00pm, Friday 10:00am to 7:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm; the salon is closed Sunday, and Monday appointments are available on request.

Listed prices are starting prices. Deposits are $33 for braid, loc and natural services, $53 for microloc maintenance, and $153 for microloc establishment, where the remaining balance is calculated and due after the service. Monday same-day or next-day appointments carry an extra $40 fee. Deposits are due at booking online or two weeks ahead when booked in person, and cancellations need one week's notice for a refund. Accepted payments include cash, Apple Pay, PayPal and credit cards, with CashApp accepted in salon or through a payment link.
