Loc-King Atlanta

Loc-King is a hair business focused on locs. Its Riverdale location sits beside Family Medicine Clinic at 6231 Riverdale Road, and its Atlanta location is on West Fayetteville Road. The name is a hyphenated take on 'locking,' the term for single strands of hair knitting together into locs.

The business started in summer 2009 as a mobile styling operation that brought services to clients' homes.

The menu is organized into locs, braids, styling and services. Loc work runs from maintenance and styling through starter locs, interlock, loc tones, extensions and lace units. Silk presses, re-styles, men's braids and shampoo-and-retwist options round out the list. Some service prices are base rates and may increase. The salon says protective styles like braids help minimize daily shedding so hair can grow longer.

Camp Loc-King is a training course for current and future locticians. It covers loc maintenance, repairs, core styling and marketing, pairing loc theory with hands-on technical practice to help campers build their earning power and technical skill.

Retail offerings include a luxury hair fragrance and a range of backless loc hats and caps in animal print and sequin, plus extra large shower and swim caps for locs and a satin sleep cap.

Founder believes clients should receive the same quality of service regardless of a salon's prices. The business also brings its services to clients' homes to offer high-quality, affordable styles.
