Lo+kie began as a partnership between Jackie Hellwig and a co-founder named Loren, who shared a salon suite for two years. In January 2021 Hellwig started renovating a full-size space, which became the Carnegie salon. Hellwig now owns the Carnegie location alone. The salon describes itself as a Pittsburgh boutique salon.

The stated goal is an experience built around how clients feel, aiming for a sense of connection and confidence during a visit. Hair work is centered on balayage, foil and custom blonding, with the blonde tone adjusted for each client. Haircuts, routine root-touch ups and several types of hair extensions are also offered. The salon works with Davines and uses Davines hair color.

Nail services focus on gel and GEL-X applications. Bridal hair can be booked for brides and bridal parties, either at the salon or at another location. Bridal inquiries should be emailed to the salon's wedding address, separate from general messages.

Booking can be done through the website or by calling the salon. Appointments should be cancelled at least 48 hours ahead; cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment carry a 50% fee. Clients are asked to come alone rather than with children. Cash is accepted, and credit card payments made at the appointment include a 3% processing fee. Specific accommodation requests should be made directly to the salon.

Rear lot spaces are few, so drivers reach them from Sixth or Seventh Street off W Main. Curbside spots directly out front on West Main cost nothing to use. Hours are Monday noon to 8 pm, Tuesday through Thursday 10 am to 7 pm, and Friday 10 am to 5 pm, with the salon closed Saturdays and Sundays. Phone (412) 953-4050.
