Live Well opened in 2008, when Jo Becker-Puklich moved her practice from St. Louis Park to Chanhassen after nearly 13 years of chiropractic and acupuncture work there. The office shares an entrance with Family of Christ Lutheran Church. The offices are in the first building on the left, and visitors can enter from the front or from the back lower level. The business says it has served the surrounding communities for more than a decade and describes its setting as warm and tranquil.
The business describes its approach as holistic, with care aimed at the whole person and at helping the body function better rather than only addressing pain or injury. New patients receive a complimentary initial exam and consultation, though this does not apply to patients using insurance or to Medicare patients. Treatment may include diversified adjustments, the Thompson drop-table technique, Webster technique, craniosacral therapy, assisted stretching, massage and active release, cupping, Graston, manual therapy, ultrasound and nutrition consultation with supplement recommendations. Patients may be offered a cotton gown for skin-to-skin adjusting, and adjusting of the extremities can be part of a visit.
Acupuncture uses thin, disposable, sterile prepackaged needles in a private room, in sessions of about 20 to 30 minutes. It can be added to a chiropractic visit, and ultrasound therapy can be added as well. A new patient must first complete a chiropractic initial exam and consultation. Chiropractic care also includes a ChiroThin weight loss program, which is available only through a chiropractic doctor. Care for children and babies includes regular adjustments and craniosacral therapy for infants, a gentle hands-on technique meant to restore the natural position of cranial and sacral bones and ease muscle tension. The business says this work can help with torticollis, tongue and lip tie, colic, reflux, ear infections, digestive issues, posture, sports injuries and allergies.
Functional medicine visits begin with a discussion of health goals and a detailed intake form, followed by possible lab tests or a physical exam. The resulting plan may include supplements, nutrition guidance and lifestyle changes, and visits are available in person or by telehealth. SoftWave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves for joint, tendon, neck, back, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, neuropathy and other musculoskeletal pain. Sessions last about 10 minutes and usually focus on one body region. An introductory session is $49, and package pricing is available. The business notes that most patients see their greatest benefit after 6 to 8 sessions, usually scheduled once or twice a week. It is not recommended for active cancer in the treatment area, for cortisone injections in that area within the past three weeks, or for a pacemaker near the treatment site.
Sports physicals are available as walk-ins or by appointment and cover medical history, vital signs, joint flexibility, muscle strength and conditions that may need further evaluation. The business recommends a yearly sports physical for athletes of any age. The Minnesota State High School League requires athletes in grades 7 through 12 to have a signed sports physical at least every three years from a licensed provider, which in Minnesota can be a chiropractor, nurse practitioner or medical doctor.
Live Well is out of network with all health care plans and is not a Medicare provider. It accepts auto insurance, workers' compensation, FSA and HSA payments, and offers a 25% discount for paying at the time of service. Patients are not required to buy packages or programs. Hours are Monday and Tuesday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday appointments are scheduled by phone. The phone number is 952-746-8150. The business states it has been nominated for Minnesota's Best in the chiropractic category. Supplements are sold through an online store, where statements have not been evaluated by the FDA and products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
The business describes a holistic, whole-person philosophy that aims to help the body function better, rather than only treating pain or injury.
