Live Salon was founded in 2017 by Amanda Bossi, who still owns it. The salon describes itself as a teaching salon, and its services range from cuts and color to lash extensions, brow work, makeup, bridal beauty and spray tan. Hair extensions are offered using 100% human hair, either sourced by the salon or supplied by the client.

The salon is in Suite 920 at Hempfield Plaza, behind the Greensburg Walmart and beside First Commonwealth Bank, in the left-hand corner of the complex. It has its own entrance, flower pots outside, and is near Live Casino and other entertainment. Inside, the feel is comfortable and eclectic, with cozy seating areas and bright decor. Hours are Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 9pm, Friday 8am to 7pm and Saturday 8am to 3pm, and the salon is closed Sunday and Monday; hours can change for staffing and holidays.

The team aims to help every guest feel confident, valued and free to express themselves. Artists work as a team, and teammates help with tasks such as blow-drying and mixing color. Guests can choose whichever stylist suits their needs and budget, and can book services with several stylists. Color appointments begin with a complimentary consultation with an artist, and corrective or transformative color requires a consultation first and is priced by the hour or a la carte.

Color is a large part of the menu. The salon uses Wella and Surface products, and its color line is PPD-free. Surface products are free from ingredients the salon says may cause sensitivities. The salon says blonde hair is its area of expertise, and it states that it guarantees lasting color results only when its professional products are used. Express color using Wella 10 Minute Color is offered in the salon but cannot be booked online. Lash extensions are recommended every two to four weeks, with fills available at one, two or three weeks. Appointments more than 35 days after the last visit, or with under a quarter of lashes remaining, are charged as a full set. Clients are asked to arrive without eye makeup, and cleansing may cost extra. Lash clients coming from another salon pay a little more for their first fill. Lash glue is made for sensitivities, according to the salon. Silk presses are not currently offered.

Credit cards are required to book any service. Cancelling or rescheduling within 48 hours is charged at 50% of the full-price service, and no-shows are charged 100% of the booked service, immediately if no call is made. Clients who call when running late may be held for up to 15 minutes before the appointment can be cancelled under the cancellation policy. Services are not refunded in money; salon credit is issued as a gift certificate instead. Corrections within seven days are free if the stylist made an error. Product refunds are given only for defective or damaged items. Payment is accepted by cash, check, major credit cards and mobile pay. Spray tan clients can request a chaperone artist when booking, provided they ask in advance.
