Little Axe Salon

Established in 2013, Little Axe Salon began in a space just off Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. After more than a decade there, it moved to a studio-style space in a shared building with other creative businesses, where it is spacious and quiet.

Haircuts are booked online through Vagaro, and online appointments are prepaid at booking. Cancellations made more than 24 hours ahead are refunded automatically. The salon has no phone line, so clients reach it by email, and an automated wait list on Vagaro notifies people as soon as an opening appears.

A blowout starts with a shampoo and then the hair is styled to the look the client wants, usually taking about an hour depending on density, texture and length. Event Style is a styled blowout that can include hot tools or braids, and a consultation is required before booking it. Pricing for Event Style depends on the final result and the time involved.

Bang trims are a 15-minute dry cut for keeping bangs in shape or taking weight out of the hair. They are offered at the end of the day on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, booked in person or by email. Bang trims are complimentary between a client's regular appointments, and for someone new to the salon the first bang trim costs $75.

Hours are Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 5pm, with the salon closed Sunday through Tuesday.
